Tools to a Home Print Studio with Jane Button
In this two-part workshop, Extricate artist Jane Button will introduce you to a variety of tools and printing plates, giving you the opportunity to try a number of accessible presses and printing methods.
Part 1 will see you experiment with a range of plates and cutting tools, print a test plate, then transfer a design onto a block and carve it ready to be printed in the next session.
Part 2 will see you print your plate on various presses, including a 7 cm micro-press, a pasta press, craft presses and a cold press laminator. A small sample set of papers will be provided, however, you are also welcome to bring your own.
Suitable for both beginners wanting to learn a new medium and set up a home studio, and experienced artists wishing to extend their practice by incorporating new materials and equipment.
Jane Button is a printmaker and mixed media artist who works from her home studio in Wooroloo. She works in a wide range of printmaking techniques, including drypoint, relief, rubber carving and image transfers. She enjoys experimenting with the various ways in which the techniques can be combined and her images are often then incorporated into small mixed media or 3D pieces.
