Artist Bio
Hailing from Perth, Western Australia, Stacy Gardoll's early creative experiences began in theatre set design and painting.
She received a BA Design (Three-Dimensional Design) from Curtin University in the 1990's followed by a Dip Performing Arts (Theatre Set and Costume Design) from WAAPA in 1997.
A move to Melbourne followed, where she worked as a designer, creating sets and costumes for theatre, musical theatre, and dance productions. Her passion for large-scale set painting became a hallmark of her "painterly" design style, characterized by its dynamic use of colour, texture, and scale.
Over time, this love of painting overpowered the love of theatre, and a shift in focus was made from large scale scenery to smaller scale oils on canvas. Her aesthetic is much informed by her work in the theatre, which continues to be bold, high contrast, with the use of striking saturated colours.
Stacy paints from her home studio in the foothills of Perth.
