Papermaking Weekend Intensive with Ingrid Mulder
Discover the rich tradition of hand papermaking with Ingrid Mulder of Crow Mountain Paper. In this 2-day intensive weekend workshop you’ll transform an old pair of old jeans or a worn out piece of cotton clothing to recycle into beautiful rag paper that can be used for printing, stationary, book binding, cards or to be framed.
Over the course of the weekend you will learn to prepare cotton rag and recycled paper into pulp for papermaking, using Ingrid’s Hollander beater. In addition to preparation and properties of pulp you will learn the basics of papermaking including traditional western and eastern sheet forming, moulds and deckles, pressing, drying and decorative effects. There will be a selection of decorative inclusions available but you may like to bring your own text, string, thread, pressed flat dried flowers, fine fabric or similar to include in your paper.
Having studied and worked at the Washi no Sato Papermaking factory in Japan for over 12 years, Ingrid has a wealth of paper making expertise to impart on new students.
