ABOUT THE ARTIST 

Anne O’Leary is a multidisciplinary artist whose “Studio on the Hill” is a sanctuary for creative exploration, nestled in the bushland of Western Australia. Her practice spans natural dyeing on silk, wool, and rag paper, as well as resin art, Ebru (Turkish marbling), and mosaics. While her work embraces experimentation, it is underpinned by years of dedicated practice and finely honed technique, especially in the art of eco-dyeing. Guided by a deep love for the bush, Anne gathers leaves, bark, and other organic materials from her surroundings to imprint colour and texture onto fabric and paper. Through a carefully refined process of steaming and bundling, these natural elements release their pigments, creating earthy, unpredictable patterns that reflect the landscape itself. This slow, meditative method is both scientific and intuitive, an ongoing dialogue with nature that celebrates its beauty and impermanence.
