ABOUT THE ARTIST

Rowena Harries trained in ceramics at Broome TAFE and went on to open her own studio on the verandah of her home in Broome on Yawuru country. Harries has taught ceramics in a range of the community settings. She’s passionate about sharing the meditative and calming aspects of working with clay, alongside helping her students develop their technical skills. Harries creates ceramics using a bright white fine porcelain clay, brought to life through decorative effects, particularly sgraffito. In her pieces, she depicts animals and plants that reflect her deep connection with the natural environment.
