ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sultana Shamshi is a multidisciplinary artist whose life and work spans continents and cultures. Having lived in Bombay, Singapore, London, Limassol, Bangkok, before settling in Perth. Her creative practice reflects the diversity of her experiences and depth of her heritage. Shamshi studied Ceramics at the esteemed Sir JJ School of Arts in Bombay and completed an Advanced Diploma in Jewellery Design at the Central Institute of Technology in Perth. Driven by a profound concern for environmental degradation and deforestation, Shamshi explores tree forms as symbols of resilience and interconnectedness. Her techniques include lapidary work, lost wax casting, and metal forming. Inspired by the Australian landscape & its ancient cultural connections, Shamshi’s jewellery is both a tribute and a call to protect the natural world.
