ABOUT THE ARTIST

Margot Gloger was born in Bohemia in 1943 and migrated to Australia in 1982. Her love for knitting began very early in life, before she could read and write. Moving to Australia sparked a desire to learn how to spin her own yarns, and she started collecting all sorts of spinnable fibres such as alpaca, mohair, wool and silk.

Learning to dye the fibres soon followed. Socks became her speciality: she became known as the Sock Lady! Her socks’ long rib means that they stay up without using constricting elastic. She also knits beanies, gloves, scarves, shawls and bags.
