ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ben David's practice explores the tactile and emotional language of textiles; how fibre, texture, and repetition can hold memory, presence, and place. he is drawn to the slow, rhythmic processes of making, where each stitch or woven line becomes a marker of time and a way of grounding himself in the world. Working with textiles allows David to create pieces that invite touch as much as they invite looking, encouraging a deeper, more sensory engagement. David works intuitively, often beginning with fragments: threads, scraps, colours, or textures that resonate with something felt but not yet articulated. Through layering, stitching, and restructuring, he transforms these elements into forms that sit between craft and storytelling. His materials guide him as much as he guides them, and he is interested in how fibre can reveal tension, softness, resilience, and vulnerability.
David's work speaks to the quiet connections between people, materials, and environment. Each piece becomes a small, tactile landscape that holds emotion and openness, offering viewers a chance to slow down and tune into their own sense of touch, memory, and imagination. Textiles give him a language that is honest and grounding-one that continues to evolve as he does.
