ABOUT THE ARTIST 

Elisha McGuckin is an artist situated on Kaniyang country in the south-west of Western Australia whose vibrant pieces combine pop art design with traditional, intuitive painting styles. As a child of the 80s, McGuckin is obsessed with all things ‘pop culture,’ driven to creating brightly coloured still life paintings of iconic and nostalgic subjects. As the granddaughter of a sign writer and daughter of a technical drawer, McGuckin is fascinated with lettering, mastering smooth brushstrokes, and the ability to capture light: how it hits an object, reflects, and dances across coloured surfaces. McGuckin hopes that her artwork can bring a spark of joy (and even a giggle) to a viewer’s day. Even when times are tough, McGuckin wants everyone to carry a smile in their pocket.
