Explore the combination of intuitive mark-making and low-fi materials to create unique monoprints in this 2.5-hour workshop for adults. Using graffiti markers, relief ink, and found materials like junk food packaging and cardboard, you’ll experiment with low-cost, expressive and efficient techniques to investigate the intersection of drawing and printmaking.

Inspired by Happy Meals and Scooter Skids: Art from the Outer Suburbs on show at MJAC as part of Perth Festival, this hands-on session offers insight into the creative processes behind the exhibition by Andy Quilty and students from Youth Futures Community School Midland, Armadale Senior High School and Warnbro Community High School.

ARTIST BIO

Andy Quilty is an artist, arts educator, and Fine Arts Lecturer at UWA. He facilitates creative workshops across WA in schools, Aboriginal art centers, community groups, and prisons. His work explores outer suburban visual culture through expressive mark-making and material experimentation. Quilty holds a Master of Fine Arts (Research) from UWA.
