Tea towel featuring original artwork, 'The Colours of Coalseam,' by Helen Ansell.

“The Coalseam National Park is located halfway between Mingenew and my hometown of Mullewa and is one of the biggest Tourist Attractions in this area. The place of the first mined coal deposit in Western Australia, the Park gets it’s name from the exposed bands of coal seams that still stripe the cliff faces. 2021 was one of the most spectacular displays of wildflowers I had ever seen in this area – inspiring me to paint this painting of fields of pink and yellow flowers. I took a friend there with me who at the time said she was enjoying watching my over the top excited reactions to the wildflowers more than the wildflowers themselves!” - Helen Ansell

MATERIALS: 100% Cotton

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Helen Ansell is a self-taught artist whose vivid, wild, and unique paintings capture the heart and spirit of native Western Australian flora and fauna. From large scale public art projects to gallery exhibitions and retail prints, Helen reflects the wonders of Western Australia. Inspired by the diverse bushlands around regional Western Australia, Helen embraced the artistic beauty of the flora and fauna and has been painting these subjects ever since. Helen currently works out of her studio gallery in Mullewa, a small town in the mid-west region of Western Australia known for its abundance of wildflowers during the months of spring. As a busy mum and business owner, she has learnt to work to a flexible schedule, often working on pieces on her kitchen table, her front porch, and at market stalls whilst chatting to visitors. Even as a resident, seeing the change of seasons every year, Helen is amazed at how different the landscape of Mullewa is week to week and year to year.
