Joanna Brown is a Fremantle-based artist with a background in Visual Arts (Curtin University), Art Teaching, and a Master’s in Art Therapy (Edith Cowan University). Her career has spanned teaching, fashion design, stage décor, and large-scale festival installations, alongside running a freelance design business catering to government and private clients in the music and cultural sectors. In recent years, Brown has focused primarily on public art, bringing her signature visual language to large-scale formats. Her works often feature symmetrical compositions, bold colour, and flattened perspective, drawing from a deep and evolving engagement with the botanical world. She is particularly interested in how plant life shapes our visual and emotional landscapes, and how it can serve as a quiet but powerful connector across communities.
