ABOUT THE ARTIST

Kathryn Pekin is a local ceramic artist who has lived and worked in the Kimberley and Pilbara. She continues to draw inspiration from these beautiful northwest landscapes, particularly the russets, reds and oranges so distinctive to the Northwest. Much of her work is wheel thrown pottery that often incorporates differing textures, forms and organic mediums that are enhanced through firing processes such as raku and pit firing. Kathryn enjoys the ongoing process of experimentation, which allows each piece its own uniqueness, no two pieces are the same.
