ARTIST BIO
Annette Peterson, born in Norway, is an emerging curator and conceptual artist who utilises a range of media to reflect on life. Raised on Whadjuk Boodja, she is motivated to document the movement of phenomenal experiences and has developed a fascination with the suburban driving experience. Her background in journalism fuels her desire to capture the everyday, aided by the accessibility of smartphones that enable the recording of moving images. Peterson is particularly drawn to portraying the effect revealed within overlooked, transient moments. Peterson's previous study in psychology also informs her work and inspires her to investigate the human psyche. New projects have combined narrative history, trauma, and portrait painting.
As Annette continues to experiment with new thematic intersections, she remains dedicated to advancing the scope of conceptual art, by bringing together diverse artists and perspectives in a collaborative setting for her first curatorial experience.
