ABOUT THE ARTIST
Silvana Ferrario is a Perth Hills-based artist working with glass since 1997. Her artistic journey began with leadlight, copper foil, and mosaics, eventually evolving into glass fusion and sculptural glasswork. Initially a creative outlet from her career as a Subsea Engineer, working with glass became a profound form of expression that draws upon her technical background and deep connection to the natural world.
With over 30 years of experience in marine engineering and a passion for scuba diving, Ferrario’s work often reflects the fluidity and vibrancy of underwater environments. Her pieces capture the movement of water and the dynamic life of the subsea world. Ferrario employs a range of glass techniques, including several she has developed herself, to create distinctive and evocative works. Her art has been featured in exhibitions across Australia, earning recognition for its innovation and emotional depth.
